PJRR Customer Information

The Port Jersey Railroad (PJR) provides rail freight transportation to the industrial, commercial and maritime sector of the New Jersey waterfront.

Our customers provide a variety of logistics services.. Details about our customers' capabilities can be found on the logistics page.

PJR gives you high quality service and a choice in selecting your transportation carriers.

As a shortline railroad, PJR provides the kind of customer service that only a small, highly focused business can provide. Our on-site management keeps an eye on your shipment to insure that it is properly handled in every respect. This includes moving your railcar safely and on time, responding promptly to your requests for service and information, and helping to resolve problems.

Rail Routes to PJRRAlthough our railroad is in Jersey City, we will help you with your shipment from origin to destination, including tracing, insuring expeditious handling, or obtaining rates and equipment. As one part of your transportation arrangements, we take an interest in insuring that all parts of those arrangements operate smoothly.

PJR connects with CSX Transportation (CSXT) and the Norfolk Southern Railway (NS) through the Conrail Shared Assets in Northern New Jersey. Through the Shared Assets, PJR also connects with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP). PJR is a switching carrier for all of our connections. This means that we act as a terminal railroad, providing local pick-up and delivery service, while the connecting railroad is the focus for commercial and long haul matters.

With access to three major railroads, PJR gives you a choice in moving your freight. You can change routes from one railroad to another without having to relocate your logistics facility. You can ship to or from locations on different railroads without the complexities of multiple Class 1 interchanges, and you can leverage competitive access to obtain the best rates, service and equipment.
